Lisbon’s terracotta horizon

Where our one accent colour comes from: the clay roofs, oxide doors and late sun of the city we work in.

Look across Lisbon from any miradouro in the late afternoon and you see one colour above all others: the warm red of clay roof tiles under a low sun.

One colour, used carefully

Our buildings are mostly stone, lime and timber. When we use colour, it is almost always this terracotta: on a door, a single tile, a thread of a handrail.

It is not decoration. It is a way of tying each project back to the soil and the city it belongs to.
